Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the chart’s subject and include two relevant comparisons: men are higher in the youngest group, while women are higher at ages 25–34. However, the response does not summarise the main pattern across all age groups, and the overview that “female are more healthy” is an unsupported conclusion rather than a chart feature. Some details are inaccurate or invented: the first group is 15–24, not 15–25, and the explanation that women have more time to run is not shown by the data. The response is also 8 words below the 150-word minimum. To strengthen the report, describe the overall trends and key high and low points, using only information visible in the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic sequence from introducing the chart to discussing age groups and ending with a general statement, and phrases such as “if we talk about” signal a shift in focus. However, the response is presented as one continuous paragraph, and the progression is difficult to follow because the comparisons are incomplete and the final overview does not clearly summarise the data. Repeated openings such as “if we talk about” and “This graph show” make the linking mechanical. Organise the report into a short introduction, an overview, and a paragraph comparing the age groups. Use clear links such as “By contrast” or “In the remaining groups” to show how each comparison relates to the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age groups,” “regular exercise,” and “physical activity,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or informal for a chart report, such as “did a more exercise,” “physical running,” and “more healthy.” Spelling errors—including “ilustrate,” “camaprison,” and “exersise”—also reduce clarity and control. Avoid explanations about people’s motives and focus on precise reporting language. Practise collocations such as “the proportion of men,” “engaged in regular physical activity,” and “the figure rose,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer clauses, for example, “if we talk about the other group 25 to 34 the women are more regular because…”. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, and errors in verb forms, agreement, and articles recur. Examples include “The bar illustrate,” “women doing a less physical activity,” and “This graph show.” These patterns make some relationships between ideas unclear. Build reliable simple sentences first, such as “Women recorded a higher figure than men in the 25–34 group,” then practise joining comparisons with accurate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement and use consistent past-tense reporting forms.
