Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You report figures for all six age groups, and most of the percentages match the chart. However, the response mainly lists data rather than selecting and summarising the key features. It needs a clear overview, such as noting that men are more active only in the youngest group, while women lead in every other group; women’s rates peak around ages 45–64, whereas men’s lowest rate is among 35–44-year-olds. Some comparisons are also unclear: “39.5% of men and women of 52.5%” does not clearly identify the two figures. Explanations about teenagers playing sports and women’s appearance are not supported by the chart. Focus on accurate comparisons and an overview rather than speculation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response follows the age groups in chart order, which gives the reader a basic sequence, and it uses some linking expressions such as “then” and “the last two age groups.” However, the information is presented in two large blocks, with no distinct overview and little paragraph development. Repeated transitions make the account feel like a list, while long sentences joined by commas and full stops make some comparisons difficult to follow. For example, the 35–44 figures are compressed into “39.5% of men and women of 52.5%.” Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and one or two comparison paragraphs, using clear links such as “by contrast” and “whereas.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age group,” and “regular physical activities,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “had taken part,” “had taken place,” and “the rate … did higher.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “austrailain,” “activites,” and “austraila,” which reduce accuracy. Some wording adds unsupported interpretation, for example “women get more concerned about the appearance.” Use concise, neutral terms for describing data, and check spelling and collocations. More precise verbs such as “stood at,” “rose,” and “exceeded” would help you compare the figures without repeating the same phrase.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to combine figures and explanations in longer sentences, but sentence structures are limited and errors are frequent enough to make some relationships unclear. For example, “42.2%& 48.9% of … men and women does” has subject–verb agreement problems, and “39.5% of men and women of 52.5%” lacks a clear grammatical structure for comparing the figures. Several sentences run together or use punctuation inconsistently, as in “physique.the age group.” Tense and article use are also uneven. Build clearer sentences with a subject and verb for each comparison—for example, “Among 25–34-year-olds, 42.2% of men and 48.9% of women exercised regularly”—and check agreement and sentence boundaries.
