Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main comparison that women recorded higher participation in most age groups, and you correctly report several key figures, including 52.8% for young men, 47.7% for young women, and 48.9% for women aged 25–34. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: women did not lead in every age group, and the final group is not approximately equal, since the figures are 47.1% for women and 46.7% for men. The claim that women averaged 53% across every age group is also misleading; their rates vary from 47.1% to 53.3%. A clearer overview should describe the contrasting trends: men’s rate falls then rises, while women’s rises to middle age before declining.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response includes a recognisable sequence: an introduction, comparisons between age groups, and a closing statement. Linking phrases such as “on the other hand” and “afterwards” help show contrast and sequence. However, the ideas do not progress consistently, and several points are repeated, especially the general claim that women participate more and the final statement about staying active. Paragraphing is absent, making the overview and supporting details difficult to distinguish. Some connections are also unclear, as in “on an average 53% of women of evry age group,” which does not follow accurately from the figures. Organise the response into a brief overview and a paragraph comparing the age-group data, using links only where they clarify the relationship.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “age group,” “percentage,” “increased,” and “falls,” so the reader can understand the general subject and comparisons. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise: “doing physical activities” and “take part in physical activities” recur, while “beats men” is too informal for an academic report. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as “campares,” “austrailain,” “activties,” and “evry,” which make the writing less clear and polished. Choose precise reporting language such as “the proportion who exercised” and “was higher than,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid adding unsupported explanations about keeping fit or staying active.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, for example, “in the age group of 25-34 the number of men … falls to 42.2% and the number of women increased to 48.9%.” However, control is inconsistent: tense shifts from “falls” to “increased,” and sentence boundaries and punctuation are often missing, as in the opening run-on passage. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, including “women … beats men” and “women's number of percentage falls.” These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Use past tense consistently for the 2010 data, punctuate each comparison as a complete sentence, and practise accurate subject–verb agreement while retaining a mix of sentence patterns.
