Student answer (Band 6.0)
The provided bar chart compares the rate of physical exercise done by men and women of different age groups in Australia, in 2010.
Overall, yongest age group of male (15-24), seems to be more interested to perform physical activity, whereas female betwen 35 to 64 engaged themselves in the activity in the given year.
In detail, 52.8% male aged 15 to 24 were active in physicial activity, which dropped by more than 10% comming to age group in between 25-34. The participation again increased to 46.7% with the increase in age group to 65 and over.
Only 47.7% female aged 15-24 were invloved in physicial activity which increased with the growing age, reaching 53.3% in 45-54 age. The elderly female group showed less intrest towards physicial activity which is only 47.1% for 65 and over age group, which is still higher as compared to male of same age group.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the chart’s subject and provide an overview contrasting the youngest men with women aged 35–64. Several figures are accurate, including 52.8% for young men, 53.3% for women aged 45–54, and 47.1% for women aged 65 and over. However, the overview is incomplete: it misses the key pattern that women were more active than men in every age group except 15–24. Some details are also omitted, such as the female peak across ages 35–64 and the male low at 35–44 before activity rises. The claim that the youngest men were “more interested” is not directly shown by participation data. The response is one word below the required minimum. Include the main comparisons and trends more fully, using neutral descriptions of the figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs describing male and female figures. This makes the information easy to follow, and phrases such as “In detail” and “which increased” help signal progression. The comparison between older women and men at the end is also relevant. To strengthen cohesion further, connect the two series more consistently rather than presenting them mostly in isolation; for example, compare the female percentages directly with male figures in the same age groups. Some long sentences contain several linked ideas, particularly the final sentence, so clearer sentence boundaries would improve flow. The paragraphing and basic progression are effective, but comparisons and links between details could be more flexible and precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “participation,” “increased,” “dropped,” and “reaching,” so the main trends are generally understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “rate of physical exercise done,” “interested to perform,” and “engaged themselves in the activity” do not describe chart participation naturally. Repetition of “physical activity” and “age group” also limits flexibility. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “yongest,” “physicial,” “comming,” “invloved,” and “intrest.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and control. Prefer concise chart language such as “the proportion who exercised regularly,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including relative clauses and time or age comparisons, as in “which increased with the growing age.” Most of the intended meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. The overview has an incomplete construction in “yongest age group of male … seems,” and “female betwen 35 to 64 engaged themselves” lacks a clear plural subject and uses an awkward structure. In “52.8% male aged 15 to 24 were active,” the noun phrase needs a grammatical form such as “men aged 15 to 24.” The final sentence is also overloaded, with several clauses joined by “which.” Use complete, well-formed subjects and divide complex comparisons into shorter sentences; this will preserve your range while improving control.
