Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main contrast: men have the highest participation in the youngest group, while women exceed men in the other age groups. You also report several accurate figures, including 52.8% for young men, 39.5% for men aged 35–44, and 47.1% for women aged 65 and over. This gives the response a relevant overview and supports its comparisons. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the female peak is 53.3% among 45–54-year-olds, not 53% as stated, and the figures 43.1% and 45.1% are assigned to the wrong age groups in the sentence about women aged 55–64. Develop the overview more precisely and check that each figure is matched to its group.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and a sequence of age-group comparisons. This helps the reader follow the main subject, and phrases such as “The final age group” signal a shift to the last category. However, the body does not progress consistently through the data: the sentence about women aged 55–64 also includes figures for men aged 45–54 and 55–64, making the comparisons difficult to track. Some links are mechanical or unclear, and the final sentence is joined awkwardly to the preceding point. Group the figures by age range or by sex, and use clear linking phrases to show how each comparison relates to the overview.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the chart, including “percentage,” “age group,” “trend,” and “maximum.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal for an academic report. For example, “doing workout” and “doing less exsercise” are not natural ways to describe the data, while “most least age group” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “deptics,” “diffrent,” and “femlaes” also reduce accuracy. Use standard chart language consistently, such as “the proportion who exercised” or “participation was lowest,” and proofread spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the reader can generally understand the intended meaning. However, grammatical control is uneven, particularly in sentence structure and agreement. For example, “Overall, mens are doing more” has an incorrect plural form and an awkward verb construction; “The maximum percentage of mens … in 52.8%” is missing a suitable linking verb; and “The final age group … are almost similar” has a subject–verb agreement problem. Punctuation and spacing also need attention, as in “43.1% and45.1%.” Practise forming complete comparison sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and check articles, plurals, and punctuation before submitting.
