Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify relevant overall features: female participation peaks in the middle age groups, while the male low point is among those aged 35–44. You also make several useful comparisons, including the approximate figures for ages 45–54 and 55–64. However, the overview is incomplete and one claim is inaccurate: the female peak is 53.3% at 45–54, only slightly above 53% at 55–64, while the male minimum is 39.5% at 35–44. The 15–24 difference is about five percentage points, not negligible, and the 25–34 gap is 6.7 points rather than exactly 6. A clearer summary of the overall gender pattern and more precise comparisons would make the key features more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to comparisons across age groups. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “In addition,” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships between points. However, the progression is not consistently clear: several age groups and comparisons are packed into long sentences, and the final sentence combines the 55–64 and 65-and-over groups without clearly separating their figures. Some transitions feel mechanical, and “After analyzing the bar chart” adds little to the progression. Use a separate paragraph for the detailed comparisons and organise the age groups in a consistent sequence, with one clear comparison per sentence. This would make the information easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-appropriate vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “approximately,” and “regular physical activity,” and the topic remains understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “the women doing physical activity 6% increased” and “the same age group of men less at 13%.” Spelling errors, including “neligible,” “Furture,” “woem,” and “activtiy,” are noticeable and sometimes slow the reader. Aim for precise comparison language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a figure as “6.7 percentage points higher” and use “participation rate” or “proportion” consistently rather than repeating “doing activity.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts at complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “whereas” and “Moreover,” but control is uneven. Errors in agreement and sentence construction appear in phrases such as “the maximum percentage of female doing” and “the men and women were doing activity 45% men and 53% women.” The overview also joins two independent ideas with a full stop before “whereas,” leaving the second clause incomplete. Articles, plurals, and verb forms need more consistent control. Build comparisons with complete, parallel structures—for example, “Women’s rate was 48.9%, compared with 42.2% for men.” Shorter, accurately punctuated sentences would help communicate the data more clearly while you develop a wider range of structures.
