The bar chart presents the percentage of Autralian man and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and give an overview, correctly noting that women aged 45–54 had the highest rate and men aged 35–44 the lowest. You also accurately report the figures for ages 25–34. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it omits several key comparisons and does not clearly describe the overall pattern that men were more active only in the youngest group, while women led in the other five. The claim that the 15–24 male and 35–54 female figures “nearly shared same ratio” is unclear, and the final comparison is unfinished and incorrectly suggests the oldest groups had the same percentage. The response is 111 words, below the 150-word minimum; develop the overview and report more accurate comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic structure, with an opening, an overview, and a paragraph of details, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “Meanwhile” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the information does not progress clearly from the main trends to supporting comparisons. Several details are crowded into one paragraph, and the comparison involving the 15–24 and 35–54 groups is difficult to follow. The final sentence, “Meanwhile, agesd 65 and over showed same percentage,” is incomplete, leaving the reader unsure which groups are being compared. Organise the body by contrasting male and female rates across age groups, and use clear references and complete sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “recorded the highest figure,” and “accounted for,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “shared same ratio,” “significant percentage difference between both groups activities,” and “belonged to 55 to 64 age category.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Autralian,” “phuysical,” and “agesd.” Use precise terms such as “rate,” “proportion,” and “higher than,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid repeating awkward constructions like “the males and the females category”; refer simply to “men” and “women” in each age group.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few complex structures, including the contrast introduced by “whereas” and the comparison using “while.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “females of aged 45 to 54,” “the age group of male category belonging to 35 to 44,” and “males of the aged 15 to 24.” These show problems with articles, prepositions, and sentence construction. The final clause also lacks a complete comparison, and “showed same percentage” is missing an article and a clear subject for comparison. Practise writing direct, complete sentences, for example: “Women aged 45–54 recorded the highest rate, at 53.3%.”
