Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover the chart’s main subject and include figures across all six age groups, with several accurate comparisons—for example, women’s activity peaked at 53.3% among 45–54-year-olds, while men’s lowest figure was 39.5% among 35–44-year-olds. The overview also attempts to identify broad age patterns. However, it is unclear or inaccurate in places: men’s highest participation was among 15–24-year-olds, not broadly “from pre adulthood to young adult hood,” and women’s lowest rate was among 65-and-over women (47.1%), not the “pre mature age” group. The final comparison is useful, but the change figures for ages 55–64 are not clearly anchored to the preceding age group. Make the overview more precise and select the key highs, lows, and gender crossover clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a chronological account of the age groups. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and phrases such as “In the age group of 45-54” help signal transitions. However, the overview is difficult to follow because its comparisons are expressed unclearly, and the sentence beginning “Besides for women” contains a broken construction. The body also relies repeatedly on “In the age group” and “At the age group,” making progression mechanical. The final sentence about increases and decreases would be clearer if it explicitly compared the 55–64 figures with those for 45–54. Grouping the data into male and female trends, or into younger and older groups, would create a more purposeful progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “participated,” “active,” “participation rate,” and “peak,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are awkward, such as “amount of men and women,” “majority of participation,” and “took part … on daily basis.” Some spelling errors—“partcipation,” “excercises,” “yound,” and “femal”—also reduce accuracy and polish. The labels “pre adulthood,” “young mature,” and “early mature” are not natural ways to describe the chart’s age bands and may confuse the reader. Use standard age-group labels and precise terms such as “proportion” or “percentage” when reporting data. More accurate collocations would make the description clearer and more appropriately academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparative sentences, and most of the figures remain understandable. However, some sentence structures are incomplete or faulty. For example, “Besides for women the most active age group was during the mature age. and was the least activie group…” lacks a clear subject and does not form a complete comparison. In “about 42.2 men and 48.9 women took part,” the percentages need grammatical marking, while “participation in for women” contains an unnecessary preposition. Capitalisation after full stops and punctuation around the final sentence also need attention. Practise building complete comparison patterns, such as “The figures were X% for men and Y% for women,” and check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb. Greater control of these patterns would improve accuracy.
