Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and report several relevant figures, including the male lead among 15–24-year-olds and women’s higher rates in most older groups. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: “female demonstrated the highest participation” does not specify that women peaked at 53.3% among 45–54-year-olds, while men’s lowest rate was at ages 35–44. The claim that women had higher rates “in all groups” also conflicts with your earlier statement that young men exceeded young women. Some comparisons are incomplete, such as “53% of women and 45%” for ages 55–64, which omits the male label. Select the main trends clearly and check each comparison against the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and details grouped by age. Linking expressions such as “However,” “From 45 to 54,” and “Followed by” help signal comparisons and sequence. Nevertheless, progression is uneven because the overview contradicts the first age-group comparison, and the final sentence returns to the male trend after the age-by-age account without a clear transition. Some references are incomplete or difficult to follow, particularly “53% of women and 45%” and “both men are women.” Use a clearer overview, then organise the body into consistent comparisons, ensuring each figure is explicitly linked to its sex and age group.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “age groups,” “participation,” and “activity rates,” so the topic is generally clear. There is also some variety in expressions such as “exceeding” and “declining steadily.” However, several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “demostrated,” “higer,” “patter,” “famle,” and “occured.” Phrases such as “active in exercise” and “dominated considerably” are also unnatural for describing chart data. Prefer accurate, conventional collocations such as “were physically active” and “had a higher participation rate.” More precise vocabulary and careful proofreading would make the comparisons easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the contrast introduced by “While” and the sentence beginning “For male, the highest activity rate…”. However, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships unclear. Examples include “female demonstrated” and “male are,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect, and “in all groups women had higer activity rates,” which conflicts with the preceding comparison. The fragment “Followed by 55 to 64%” is not a complete sentence, and “both men are women” appears to misuse “are” for “and.” Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention. Build accurate complete sentences first, then add complex clauses and check agreement and punctuation.
