Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main comparison that women were more active in most age groups, while men led among 15–24-year-olds, and you accurately report several figures, including 52.8%, 47.7%, 42.2% and 39.5%. However, the overview is incomplete: “The figues for both genders were almost people aged 65 and over” does not communicate a clear feature, and the account ends before describing the women’s pattern or the older age groups. There is also an inaccurate detail: the male figure rises to 43.1% for ages 45–54, not 55–64. The response is 15 words below the required minimum. To improve, complete the key trends and comparisons and ensure every figure is attached to the correct age group.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the report, beginning with an introduction and overview before moving to figures for men. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “However,” and “after that” help signal relationships between points. Nevertheless, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview contains an unclear sentence, and the final section breaks off: “and over exercised regulaely. in contrest the of woman who exercisd”. This leaves the comparison unfinished and makes the report feel incomplete. Some transitions are also poorly punctuated or separated into fragments, such as “after that” beginning a new sentence and “and over” appearing without a clear subject. Use clear paragraphs for the overview and details, then organise the figures by gender or age trend and finish each comparison fully.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a chart, including “proportion,” “declined significantly,” “lowest point,” and “rose gradually.” These choices show an attempt to vary language beyond simply repeating “percentage.” However, spelling errors are frequent and sometimes make the text harder to read, for example “illusttrates,” “figues,” “thoes,” “amoung,” and “regulaely.” There are also inaccurate or incomplete expressions, such as “almost people aged 65 and over,” which does not convey a clear meaning, and “the of woman who exercisd.” Aim for accurate spelling and complete, natural collocations. A small set of reliable phrases such as “the proportion of women,” “the figure for men,” and “regularly exercised” would make the report clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of sentence forms, including a comparison with “compared with” and a sequence using “However” and “after that.” Some basic structures are understandable, such as “52.8% of those aged 15–24 participated.” However, errors are frequent, and several sentences are incomplete or difficult to interpret. “The figures for both genders were almost people aged 65 and over” lacks a workable grammatical structure, while “and over exercised regularly” has no clear subject. The final clause, “in contrast the of woman who exercised,” is also unfinished. There are problems with agreement and sentence boundaries, including “woman were” and the fragment beginning “after that.” Practise complete subject–verb sentences and check agreement, punctuation, and clause completion before submitting.
