Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the two groups and report several relevant figures, including women at 53.3% for ages 45–54 and men at 52.8% for ages 15–24. You also describe the broad pattern that women’s activity is fairly high through middle age and that men’s rate falls after the youngest group before recovering. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: women’s peak is 53.3% at 45–54, but the male figure of 52.8% is the highest only for men, not a general comparison of younger men. The account also misses the key contrast that women exceed men in every age group except 15–24. Some descriptions, such as “the percentage was fluctuated,” do not clearly report the changes. State the main comparisons directly and accurately, then support them with selected figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for women and men. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and sequencing by age group is generally apparent. However, progression is weakened by awkward or unclear links such as “To begin with, start of these” and “To contrary,” while “Moreover,” “Lastly,” and “In addition” are sometimes used mechanically rather than to show a precise relationship. The overview also does not clearly prepare the reader for the detailed comparisons. Use a concise overview of the main trends, then organise each detail paragraph consistently, with clear comparisons between the sexes and age groups. Check that each linking phrase accurately signals the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age groups,” “regular physical activity,” “rising,” and “decreased,” so the topic is usually identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate enough to make the description difficult to follow. Phrases such as “the percentage was enhanced,” “was elaborated,” and “on account of” do not naturally describe chart figures; “almost same” is also imprecise. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “almos,” “percenage,” and “decereased.” Aim for a small, accurate set of chart verbs and comparison phrases, such as “stood at,” “rose to,” “fell to,” “peaked at,” and “was higher than.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the response is divided into complete paragraphs. However, complex sentence attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, and agreement sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “the highest percentage of women in aged groups 45 to 54 for about 53.3%” lacks a clear main verb, while “the aged group 15-24 in female was reached” uses an incorrect passive construction. In “the younger aged groups men were increased the percentage,” the subject and verb pattern are also unclear. Build sentences around a clear subject and verb—for example, “Women aged 45–54 recorded the highest rate, at 53.3%”—and use consistent past-tense reporting.
