Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify relevant overall patterns, including women’s higher activity levels across much of the middle age range and the male peak among 15–24-year-olds. Several figures are reported accurately, such as 52.8% for young men and approximately 53% for women aged 35–64. However, the overview is not fully clear: saying women aged 15–34 were around 48% combines two groups whose figures differ (47.7% and 48.9%), and the claim that male activity was highest in “15 to 24 older” is awkwardly expressed. The male decline from 15–24 to 35–44 and subsequent rise is relevant, but the final comparison groups 45–54 with 65+ imprecisely. Select and compare the main trends more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs describing women and men. This gives the information a generally coherent arrangement, and signposts such as “Overall,” “To begin with,” and “From the males trend” help readers follow the shift between topics. However, some links are mechanical, and the overview’s comparisons are not always easy to interpret. For example, “women age groups from 35 to 64 were almost similar percentages” and “from 15 to 34 and 65 or over age groups” make the relationships between groups unclear. The final paragraph also moves through figures without a clear comparison between the sexes. Use more precise referencing and organise each paragraph around a clear trend or contrast.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the chart’s subject, including “percentage,” “age groups,” “greatest,” and “downward trend.” There are also attempts at varied phrasing, such as “what stands out” and “another notable point.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “performed physical exercise everyday” is not the same as the chart’s regular activity, “15 to 24 older” is not a natural age-group expression, and “nearby 45%” is unsuitable for describing a figure. “The males trend” is also awkward. Choose standard chart language such as “participated in regular physical activity,” “aged 15–24,” and “approximately 45%.” These improvements would make the comparisons clearer and more idiomatic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “whereas” and “that,” and the main message is generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur in agreement, clause construction, and sentence formation. For example, “male age groups was highest” has incorrect agreement, while “women who's age range were 35 to 64 old” contains several problems with the relative form and verb agreement. The sentence beginning “Another notable point is that…” also has an unclear construction. Some punctuation and sentence boundaries could be controlled more carefully. Practise accurate comparative structures, such as “The highest figure for men was among those aged 15–24,” and check subject–verb agreement and clause structure when editing.
