Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s subject and include a clear overview, noting the male low point at ages 35–44 and the higher female figures among middle-aged groups. Several reported values are accurate, including 52.8% for young men and 53.3% for women aged 45–54. However, the overview overgeneralises: women did not have the highest figure throughout, since men led among 15–24-year-olds. The statement that women aged 45–64 had the highest share is also imprecise; the peak was 53.3% at 45–54, followed by 53% at 55–64. The female trend is only partly described, omitting the rise from 47.7% to 52.5% across the first three groups. Make comparisons more exact and cover the main pattern across all age groups.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for men and women. This makes the information generally easy to follow, and transitions such as “Overall,” “To commence with,” and “Furthermore” signal the stages of the report. However, some linking is mechanical, and the contrast marker “In contrast” does not clearly explain what the female decline is being contrasted with. Within the male paragraph, the sequence of figures is difficult to track because the age groups and changes are compressed into one sentence. Use clearer sentence boundaries and connect each figure directly to its age group. More precise referencing would also help readers follow the comparisons without rereading.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of chart-reporting vocabulary, including “considerably,” “steady growth,” “significant,” and “moderate decrease.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are frequent enough to make parts of the report awkward or unclear. For example, “campered” appears where “compared” is intended, “proporation” is misspelled, and “significant amount of share” is not a natural way to describe a percentage. Phrases such as “female group member” and “manifasted considerable growth” also reduce precision. Prefer straightforward, accurate expressions such as “the proportion of women” and “rose to.” Check spelling carefully and avoid using elaborate wording unless you are confident it fits the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “However” and a clause beginning “who belong to.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence structures are faulty. In “male group member … were stood at,” the subject and verb form do not agree; “before falling declined at” combines incompatible constructions. The sentence beginning “Overall” also needs an article or a different structure (“the female group had…”), while “there was significant increased seen” has an incorrect grammatical form. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships between figures difficult to understand. Build a reliable base with accurate subject–verb agreement and past-tense reporting, then add complex clauses only when their structure is clear.
