Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You report most of the chart’s figures accurately, including the male peak of 52.8% among 15–24-year-olds and the female peak of 53.3% among 45–54-year-olds. However, the response is mainly a list of values rather than a summary of the main features. The overview is also inaccurate: women were not more active in every age group, since men led among 15–24-year-olds. The chart shows a clear pattern worth highlighting: male activity fell to a low of 39.5% at ages 35–44 before rising, while female activity rose to a middle-age peak and then declined. The opening comments about the scale and colours add little. Select key comparisons and describe these trends to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph reporting figures, and a concluding statement. The age groups are presented in chart order, which helps readers follow the data. However, the body relies on repetitive sequencing such as “The age starting from” and “In the age group starting from,” so the progression feels mechanical rather than organised around meaningful comparisons. The conclusion repeats a broad claim instead of drawing together the main trends, and the opening scale and colour details do not lead naturally into the analysis. Grouping the age groups by pattern—for example, the male decline and recovery, alongside the female rise and fall—would create clearer progression and more effective cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the subject, including “percentage,” “age group,” and “regular physical activity.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as “perform regular exercise” and “exercise for their fitness.” Some word choices make the description less natural, including “quiet higher” and “the age starting from.” There are also spelling errors, notably “groupe,” “regualr,” and “maen,” which reduce accuracy. Use standard chart language and vary it carefully: for example, describe people as “engaging in regular physical activity,” and use verbs such as “rose,” “fell,” or “peaked” to report trends. Check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most of the response uses simple sentence patterns, and the figures are generally understandable, but grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between ideas awkward. For example, “the males who perform regular exercise is 52.8%” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “42.2% male do regular exercise” is missing an article or plural form. The opening fragment, “And the age groupe starts from 15 to over 65,” is not a well-formed sentence. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and commas. Practise accurate comparative sentences, such as “The proportion of men fell to 39.5% among those aged 35–44, whereas the figure for women rose to 52.5%.”
