Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main contrast: men lead in the youngest group, while women are more active across most later age groups. Several figures are reported accurately, including 52.8% for young men, 47.7% for young women, and 53.3% for women aged 45–54. However, the overview is unclear and does not summarise the full pattern: women’s activity peaks around ages 35–64, while men’s rate falls to its low at 35–44 and then rises. There is also a factual error at the end: women aged 65 and over recorded 47.1%, not 46.7%; 46.7% is the men’s figure. Comparisons such as “13.5%” are also imprecise because the difference is in percentage points. Select and report the key trends more clearly and accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic sequence, moving from an introduction and overview to comparisons by age group, and words such as “while,” “in comparison,” and “moreover” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because several age groups are combined in long, loosely connected sentences. The overview is not clearly separated from the detailed comparisons, and punctuation and spacing make transitions harder to recognise, as in “overall, the women groups…” and “in the women catogary…”. Some comparisons are repeated without a clear organising principle. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview and details, then group the figures by the main pattern—for example, the youngest group and the later groups—and use linking phrases accurately and sparingly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “age group,” “more active,” and “involved in physical activities,” so the reader can generally understand the topic and comparisons. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or repetitive. “Did physical activities” is repeated where “participated in regular physical activity” would be more natural, while “proportional comperison” does not clearly describe what the chart shows. Frequent spelling errors—including “significntly,” “activies,” “catogary,” and “whach”—also reduce clarity and control. Some wording, such as “far less than women -(10%less than women),” is awkward and imprecise. Build a small set of accurate chart-reporting phrases and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences using clauses such as “while the men from 15-24 were more active” and “which was more than men,” but these complex attempts are often faulty. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are inconsistent, and several structures lack necessary grammatical elements: “the women groups did physical activities” has an unclear subject and verb pattern, while “the age group of 65 and over of women catogary did least” is difficult to parse. Comparisons also need clearer grammatical forms, such as “women’s rate was 10.2 percentage points higher than men’s.” Capitalisation after full stops and spacing around punctuation need attention. Practise accurate simple comparison sentences first, then combine them with subordinate clauses.
