Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the chart’s subject and provide an overview of the main contrast: women’s participation is higher in most age groups, while men’s rate falls and then rises. The figures you report are generally accurate, and the age-group comparisons support your summary. This covers the task well, though the overview is not fully precise: women do not increase throughout the age range, since their rate falls from 53% at ages 55–64 to 47.1% among those 65 and over. Also, “female has highest percentage in three age groups” understates the pattern: women exceed men in five of the six groups. Make the overview more exact and highlight the lowest and highest points to develop the key features more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs comparing the age groups. The progression from the youngest group to the middle ages and then the oldest groups is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “However” and “On the other hand” help signal contrasts. Some connections are less clear or slightly mechanical, however. The overview’s claim that women increase over the ages conflicts with the later description of their decline after 55–64. The long final sentence also combines the female decline and male rise, making the comparison harder to process. Keep the overview consistent with the details and use shorter, more clearly focused sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a chart, including “percentage,” “decline,” “grew steadily,” and “sudden drop,” so the main trends are understandable. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general phrases such as “rate of physical activity” and several inaccurate or unnatural choices. “Female doing lot of physical activity” is not a natural way to describe the data, while “started diminish” and “grew consistently strieght” are awkward. There are also spelling errors, including “comparision,” “Felmale,” and “strieght.” Choose precise chart language, such as “participation rate,” “fell,” and “rose,” and check spelling and collocations carefully to make the description more fluent and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including contrast clauses beginning with “However” and “while,” and the reader can generally understand the comparisons. Nevertheless, grammatical control is uneven, with errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “Female has sudden drop” needs an article and a plural subject or more natural phrasing; “male started diminish” has an incorrect verb pattern; and “which is 48.9%” does not agree clearly with the plural figures that follow. Some sentences also lack clear punctuation or contain several ideas joined together. Practise accurate patterns such as “the rate fell to…” and “women’s rate rose to…,” and proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
