Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You report figures for all six age groups and generally preserve the main male–female comparisons, so the chart is recognisable in your account. However, the response is largely a sequence of individual data points rather than a summary of the main features. It gives no clear overview of the overall pattern: men start higher in the youngest group, while women are higher in every other group; women peak around middle age, whereas men reach their low point at 35–44 and then rise. Some figures are also inaccurate: for example, the chart gives 48.9% and 47.1% for women in the 25–34 and 65-and-over groups, not 48.95% and 47.15%. Select key comparisons and state the overall trends explicitly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response follows the chart’s age-group order, which gives the information a basic sequence, and words such as “respectively” help connect each pair of figures. However, it is presented as one long paragraph made up of repetitive, similarly structured sentences, with no distinct overview or grouping of the data. Transitions such as “Now turn to” and “On the other hand” do not establish meaningful contrasts consistently; the latter introduces the final age group even though both sexes have similar rates there. Several sentences run together without spaces after full stops or commas, making the progression harder to follow. Organise the response into an overview and one or two comparison-focused paragraphs, and use linking expressions to show actual trends and contrasts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough chart-related vocabulary to communicate the subject and figures, including “percentage,” “age group,” and “respectively.” However, the range is limited and repetitive: “did physical activities” and “did this practice” recur instead of using more precise reporting language. Some word choices are unnatural or unclear, such as “have a record of physical activities” and “Now turn to,” while “man” and “mem” are inaccurate forms in context. These choices make the account less fluent, although the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Build a small range of natural Task 1 expressions, such as “the proportion who exercised,” “stood at,” “was higher than,” and “increased,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to report comparisons in full sentences, and the repeated use of “respectively” shows an effort to express paired figures clearly. However, sentence structures are limited and often faulty, with frequent problems in word order, articles, agreement, and punctuation. For example, “15 to 24 years old Australian men and women did physical activities having percentage” is difficult to parse, and “men and women whose age is from 55 to 64 years old, they did” has an awkward clause structure and missing spacing after the comma. The final sentence also shifts between “have done” and a present-tense description. Use a clear pattern such as “Among those aged 15–24, the figures were…” and vary it with accurate comparative clauses; proofread sentence boundaries and verb forms.
