Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the chart’s subject and include an overview, but the main comparison is inaccurate: women were not the highest in every age group, since men led among 15–24-year-olds (52.8% versus 47.7%). The overview also says men aged 25–44 had the lowest ratio, although only the 35–44 group was the overall low point; the 25–34 figure was 42.2%. Several details are too vague or misreported: men in four groups did not all have “around 45%,” and women aged 35–64 were around 52.5–53.3%, not simply “the most” among senior citizens. Select the key gender crossover and accurately compare the highest and lowest figures to make the summary more relevant and reliable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, overview and two detail paragraphs, and it separates information about men from information about women. However, progression within the paragraphs is not consistently clear: the male paragraph moves from the highest figure to several age groups and then the lowest without a clear comparison pattern. Phrases such as “To embark with” and “Furthermore” signal stages, but do not always clarify how the details relate. Some references are also difficult to follow, particularly “the middle age people” and “the senior citizens,” because the age groups meant are not precise. Organise each paragraph around a clear trend, and use direct comparisons between the sexes in the same age groups.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “proportion,” “categorized,” “accounted for” and “constituted,” and the topic is generally understandable. However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing chart data: “female were the highest contributor,” “physical work,” “least scale,” and “retired resident” do not express the intended comparisons clearly. Repetition of “ratio” and “percentage” also limits precision, while “perecent” is misspelled. Prefer standard chart language and accurate group labels, such as “the proportion of women,” “the lowest figure,” and “people aged 65 and over.” This would make the vocabulary more natural and help prevent ambiguity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There is some variety in sentence forms, including an introductory clause (“who did physical activity”) and linking adverbs such as “Overall” and “Moreover.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. For example, “the female were the highest contributor” has faulty agreement, while “the percentage of middle-age individual stood at 52.8 percent” has number and article problems and misidentifies the group. The construction “the least scale were observed … constituted to 39.5%” combines incompatible verb patterns. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, as in “Overall,in terms” and “45 to 54,55 to 64.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and simpler, complete comparison sentences before adding complex structures.
