Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover the chart’s two groups and all six age categories, and the figures you report match the data. You also identify the main contrast: men lead only in the youngest group, while women have higher participation in the remaining groups. The opening observations about the highest male and female rates are relevant, although the overview could be more precise: women’s peak is at 45–54, while men’s lowest rate is at 35–44 and then rises across the older groups. Most of the response is a sequence of individual figures, so the key patterns are not developed as fully as they could be. Grouping the age bands into broader trends and highlighting the overall gender difference would make the summary more analytical.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows the age groups in chart order, which makes the figures relatively easy to locate, and the final sentence returns to the main gender comparison. However, the information is presented as one long block, with no clear separation between an overview and the detailed comparisons. Transitions such as “Then group” and “At last group” are repetitive and sometimes make the progression sound like a list rather than a connected summary. The phrase “let us see” also shifts into an informal, conversational style. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview and details, and connect related age groups by trend—for example, the male decline to 35–44 followed by a gradual rise—rather than introducing every category in the same way.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age group,” and “physical activity,” and the reader can understand the comparisons. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, especially “doing activity” and “percentage of men/women.” Some word choices and collocations are awkward, such as “men of young age group” and “doing highest physical activity.” The response would be more precise with verbs and phrases suited to describing data, such as “participation was highest” or “the figure rose.” Also use “men” and “women” rather than “mens” and “womens”; these are vocabulary and word-form issues. Varying the language while keeping it accurate would make the report more fluent and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your meaning is generally recoverable, and you attempt to compare figures using longer sentences as well as short statements. However, the sentence structures are mostly simple or joined with basic connectors, and errors recur in agreement, articles, plurals, and punctuation. For example, “the bar chart provide information” needs a singular verb, while “There are six age group” needs a plural noun. In “women of 45 to 54 age group is doing,” the article and verb agreement are also incorrect. Several sentence boundaries are unclear, particularly around “let us see” and the repeated age-group descriptions. Practise accurate comparison structures such as “the figure for women was higher than that for men,” and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
