Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the chart’s subject and give a clear overview: women recorded higher participation in nearly all age groups, while men were highest among 15–24-year-olds and lowest among those aged 35–44. The figures and trends you report for both sexes are accurate, including the male decline and subsequent rise and the female peak at 45–54. This covers the main features well and shows some comparison. However, “almost across every age group” is imprecise: men were higher in the youngest group, so state explicitly that women exceeded men in five of the six groups. The overview could also compare the sexes at key points, such as the female peak versus the male low. These additions would make the summary more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response is organised into an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs describing the male and female patterns. This creates a clear progression, and sequencing words such as “Overall,” “Then,” and “After this age group” help readers follow the changes over time. The two gender-specific paragraphs also make the information easy to locate. To make the organisation more effective, include direct comparisons between the sexes rather than presenting each series almost entirely in isolation. Some transitions are repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “Then,” and the overview’s phrase “almost across every age groups” makes the comparison less clear. More precise linking and reference to the age groups would strengthen cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a suitable range of vocabulary for describing a bar chart, including “declined,” “gradual increase,” “slight declining trend,” and “reached.” These choices communicate the broad patterns, and the meaning remains clear despite some inaccuracies. However, several spelling errors—“accross,” “tennagers,” “phycial,” and “betwenn”—reduce accuracy. Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “female people,” “maximum amount physical activity everyday,” and “started at.” Aim for concise, conventional chart language and check spelling carefully. For example, “women” is more natural than “female people,” while “the highest proportion” is more precise than “maximum amount.” This would improve control without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use both simple sentences and more developed structures, including “Then it steadily rised to 46.7%” and “After this age group it showed a slight declining trend.” The paragraphing and sentence boundaries are generally clear, and errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the trends. Some grammatical inaccuracies remain, however. In the overview, “almost across every age groups” has an incorrect plural construction, and “the age groups who were” uses an unsuitable relative pronoun for groups. “The female people started at 47.7% for ages between 15 to 24” also has an awkward age-range construction. Practise accurate comparisons and age phrases, such as “women were more active in nearly all age groups” and “among those aged 15 to 24.”
