Student answer (Band 5.5)
The illustrator gives information about daily physical activities of both men and women in percentage in the year of 2010.
overall, the activity of men gradually declines from age 15 to 24 but it rises as like as the ages increases. Whereas, for the women it rises upto 64 age and it becomes lower than all other ages people.
For the male, it starts with 52.8% of age group 15 to 24. Then it continuously go down to the lowest of all people to 39.5% at age group 35 to 44. After that, it rises up upto 46.7% as similar like the female one at age group pf over 65.
It has always bigger percentage for activities of the female comparing with the activities of male with the first age group of 15 to 24. It starts with 44.7% and ended up with similarly at 47.1% with the age over 65. For the 35 to 64 ages, it almost has similar percentage. But at age pver 65 it declies with the similar number of the starting but it does not go down from male percentage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s subject and include several relevant figures, including the male low of 39.5% among 35–44-year-olds and the female peak of 53.3% among 45–54-year-olds. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: men do not simply “gradually decline” and then rise, since their rate falls to 35–44 before increasing, while women peak at 45–54 and then decline. The claim that female activity is always higher is contradicted by the 15–24 group, where men are at 52.8% and women at 47.7%. You also report 44.7% for women in that group, rather than 47.7%. A clearer overview and accurate comparisons across the age groups would make the summary more complete and reliable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about men and women. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “After that” help signal a change in trend. However, progression is weakened by unclear or contradictory statements. For example, the overview says women’s activity rises “upto 64 age” before becoming lower, while the final paragraph says the female rate is higher throughout and then describes a decline. Linking expressions such as “Whereas” are not always attached to a complete, clearly related clause, and “It” in the final paragraph has an uncertain reference. Grouping the comparisons by age range and using clearer references would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age group,” “declines,” and “rises,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “daily physical activities,” “rises as like as the ages increases,” and “bigger percentage for activities.” These choices sometimes make the intended comparison difficult to follow. There are also spelling errors, including “declies,” and repeated use of “similar” where a precise comparison is needed. Aim for accurate chart language such as “the proportion,” “increased,” “fell,” “was higher than,” and “reached a peak,” while checking spelling and common collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “it continuously go down,” where the verb form should agree with the subject, and “as the ages increases,” which has an agreement error. The sentence beginning “Whereas, for the women…” is a fragment, and “It has always bigger percentage” is missing a verb construction. Articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “at age group pf over 65.” Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and clause structure before adding linking words.
