Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main pattern that women recorded higher participation in most age groups, while men led among 15–24-year-olds. You also note the male low point at 35–44 and the near-equal figures among the oldest group. However, the report is incomplete: it gives no actual percentages and omits the female peak at 45–54 and the rise in male participation after 35–44. The phrase “in almost all age groups” is clarified by your next point, but the overview could be more precise. The response is also 40 words below the required minimum, which limits the detail and comparisons you can provide. Include a fuller overview and selected figures to address the task more completely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall shape: an introduction, an overview, and a final sentence with a specific comparison. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, the final paragraph is unfinished, and the report does not develop its comparisons in a clear sequence. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “in addition,” and “According to what is shown” are attempted, but the second sentence uses several connectors and commas in a way that makes the relationship between ideas awkward. The final contrast, “while the female the opposite,” is also difficult to follow. Use separate, complete sentences and organise the details by gender or by age trend, with clear links between each comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt some task-appropriate vocabulary, including “nadir,” “dominant,” and “regular physical activity,” and the reader can generally identify the topic and intended comparisons. However, several word choices, forms, and spellings are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the report difficult to understand. For example, “percentge,” “exsercise,” and “equial” contain spelling errors, while “female dominant” and “the female the opposite” are not natural ways to describe the data. “Different age” and “Australian man and women group” are also imprecise. Build a reliable set of chart-reporting phrases, such as “the proportion of women,” “was higher than,” and “reached a peak,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and more complex comparisons, particularly in the overview sentence beginning “Overall” and the clause using “whereas.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences hard to interpret. For instance, “The bar chart provide” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “at 35 to 44 have a nadir” lacks a clear grammatical subject and verb structure. In “while the female the opposite,” the comparison is incomplete, and “in 65 and above have almost equial” is also missing a clear subject. Practise complete sentence patterns such as “The male figure reached its lowest point at…” and “Women recorded a higher rate than men…” before adding linking clauses.
