Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and include several relevant figures, such as the male rate of 52.8% among 15–24-year-olds and the female rate of 53.3% among 45–54-year-olds. However, the overview is inaccurate: women were not more active in every age group, since young men led by 5.1 percentage points. The claim that the oldest group was approximately similar is valid, but the overview should also capture the main pattern: male participation fell to a low among 35–44-year-olds before rising, while female participation peaked around ages 45–64. Some details are unclear or misreported, including “24 to 64” and the reference to women’s rise “in 30s.” Select and compare the key trends more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about men and then women. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “In contrast” and “Whereas” attempt to signal comparisons. However, progression is weakened by the inaccurate overview and by placing the male and female trends in separate, uneven sections rather than making clear age-group comparisons. Some linking is awkward or incomplete: “While, male are less involved…” does not form a clear contrast, and the final sentence ends without a complete comparison or conclusion. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview and grouped data, and connect comparisons directly—for example, contrast the sexes at the same age ranges.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “in contrast,” and “involvement,” so the chart’s general subject is communicated. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, making parts difficult to interpret. “Had regularly doing physical activities” is not a natural way to describe the measure, while “male decreased their interest” suggests a change in motivation rather than a change in the reported rate. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “activites,” “approximetaly,” and “involement.” Aim for precise chart language such as “the proportion engaging in regular physical activity,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex structures, including “While…” and “before…,” and most of the intended comparisons can be understood. However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships unclear. Examples include “people from different age,” “female was more active,” and “male are less involved,” which show problems with plurals, articles, and subject–verb agreement. Verb forms are also faulty in “who had regularly doing” and “male decreased their interest,” while “it increase at 43.1%” has an incorrect verb form. Punctuation around “While” and the comma after “Whereas” also disrupts sentence structure. Practise accurate simple comparison sentences first, then build complex sentences with correctly matched subjects and verbs.
