Student answer (Band 5.0)

In current world physical activities became one of the most talked topic.

From the given chart we can summarise the clear percentage of australian men and women who were involved with doing physical activity regularly in 2010 by age wise.

At first we can see the percentage rate of age group (15-24), in that time 52.8% male were involved with those activities but less percentage female were involved and it was 47.7%.

Then the age group of 25-34, but there more than 6% gap between the male and female percentage portion.

However in 35-44 age group there is a huge gap between the percentage, we can see that there is more than 17% female are attached with doing physical activities than man.

In the age group of 45-54 there is also the same scenery, more than 53.3% female were involved but then percentage of man was 43.1.

Also in 55-64 we can see the same type of scene, there is more than 7% woman were involved than man.

However 65 and the above ages people were mostly same same numnber to doing physical activity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and make several relevant comparisons, including the male lead among 15–24-year-olds and the higher female figures in the middle age groups. However, the response only partly reports the main features: it has no clear overview of the overall pattern, and several comparisons are vague or inaccurate. For example, the 25–34 group is described as having a gap of “more than 6%,” although the difference is 6.7 percentage points, while the 35–44 difference is 13 percentage points, not more than 17. The final group is described as having the “same same” number, but the figures are close rather than identical. Include a concise overview and report key values accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response follows the age groups in chart order, so the reader can generally understand which data you are discussing. You also use basic linking expressions such as “Then,” “However,” and “Also.” However, the writing is organised as a sequence of similar age-group comments rather than a clear overview followed by grouped comparisons. Repeated openings such as “In the age group” and “we can see” make the progression mechanical, and some links do not clearly show the relationship between points. The 25–34 comparison, for instance, is not supported with the actual figures. Group the ages where women exceed men and contrast them with the youngest group, then use a separate sentence for the overall trend.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age group,” and “involved,” and the topic remains understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are unnatural or imprecise, such as “percentage portion,” “same scenery,” and “attached with doing physical activities.” “More than 53.3% female” also does not clearly express that the figure is 53.3%, rather than above it. There are noticeable spelling and word-form problems, including “australian,” “man” where “men” is needed, and “numnber.” Use standard report language such as “the proportion of women,” “participated in regular physical activity,” and “the figures were similar.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “but” and “However,” and most of the intended comparisons can be understood. Nevertheless, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently. Examples include “physical activities became one of the most talked topic,” where the tense, article, and plural form are problematic, and “there is more than 17% female are attached,” which has faulty sentence structure and agreement. The sentence beginning “Then the age group of 25-34” is also incomplete. Practise forming complete comparison sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement and past-tense reporting, for example: “Among 25–34-year-olds, 48.9% of women exercised regularly, compared with 42.2% of men.”
