Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main contrast: men have the higher figure among 15–24-year-olds, while women lead in the other age groups. You also report several relevant values, including 52.8% and 47.7% for the youngest group and the figures for ages 35–44 and 45–54. However, the overview is brief and does not clearly summarise the broader pattern: women’s activity peaks around ages 45–64, while men’s rate falls to a low at 35–44 before rising. There is also a factual error: men aged 25–34 are reported as 42.8%, but the chart gives 42.2%. Some comparisons, such as the final age group, are included but not developed. A more precise overview and accurate reporting of key trends would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, moving from an overview to comparisons across age groups, and the reader can generally follow the order of the chart. Paragraph breaks also help separate the opening from the detailed reporting. However, progression is weakened by long, crowded sentences, especially the paragraph beginning “Analysing the statstics,” which combines several age groups and comparisons without clear boundaries. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Visualising further,” and “Beside this” are sometimes awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between points. The overview is also separated from the details but remains very brief. Use one paragraph for the overview and organise the details into clearer groups, with shorter sentences and more precise transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age group,” “participation,” and “regular physical activity,” so the topic is usually understandable. There are also attempts to vary wording, such as “share” and “involvement.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “women dominate the graph,” “higher share holder,” and “little bit higher.” Frequent spelling errors—such as “statstics,” “particepent,” “censidable,” and “apporx”—also make the writing less clear and reduce control of vocabulary. Prefer standard chart-reporting expressions such as “the proportion of women was higher” and check spelling carefully. More precise verbs and nouns would help you describe comparisons without relying on vague or conversational phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect comparisons in longer sentences, and you use some simple structures to report figures. However, complex sentences are often faulty or difficult to follow, as in “the age group from 15 to 24 men are higher number,” where the sentence structure and comparison are not formed correctly. Subject–verb agreement and verb forms are also inconsistent: “The bar graph illustrate” and “women was 52.5” should use “illustrates” and “women were.” Missing articles and punctuation, including the uncapitalised opening and comma splices, further affect accuracy. The response relies heavily on extended sentences joined by commas, so errors accumulate and sometimes obscure the comparison. Practise accurate short reporting sentences first, then combine them using controlled clauses.
