Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and include several relevant comparisons, such as men’s highest figure of 52.8% among 15–24-year-olds and the similar rates for people aged 65 and over. You also note the male low of 39.5%. However, the overview mostly repeats that the chart compares age groups and genders rather than summarising its main pattern. There is also a significant data error: the female peak is 53.3% for ages 45–54, not 52.8%; 52.8% belongs to young men. The response omits the broader pattern that women exceed men in every age group except 15–24. Select and accurately report the key trends to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details, and connectors such as “Furthermore” and “Moreover” show attempts to link information. However, the progression is limited: the overview does not establish the main trends, and the detail paragraph moves between age groups without a clear organising principle. Some linking phrases are awkward or repetitive, while the sentence beginning “In the year 2010” combines several points without clear relationships. Group the information into meaningful comparisons—for example, the age groups where women lead and the exception among the youngest—and use concise transitions. Clearer paragraph purposes and more precise referencing would make the report easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age group,” “physical activities,” and “participation,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “at the peak” and “slight equally participation,” although the latter is not a natural expression and makes the comparison unclear. Several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, including “into fitness” and “fitness activities,” and “constantly” does not accurately express regular participation in this context. Aim for accurate chart-reporting collocations such as “the proportion who exercised regularly,” “recorded the highest rate,” and “was slightly higher than.” This would improve precision without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates its general subject, but grammatical control is inconsistent and sentence structures are mostly simple, with attempts at longer sentences that are often faulty. For example, “The bar chart illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the female are at the peak … its has 52.8%” contains agreement and pronoun errors. The sentence “Moreover, the both the gender had slight equally participation…” also has problems with articles, number, and sentence construction. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, particularly where sentences run together after full stops. Practise building accurate comparisons with a clear subject and verb, such as “Women recorded a higher rate than men in most age groups.” Greater control of these basic patterns would make the information clearer.
