Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main comparison—that women were more active in most age groups—and report several relevant figures, including 53.3% for women aged 45–54 and 43.1% for men in that group. You also correctly identify the male low point at 35–44 and the small difference between the oldest groups. However, the overview is not fully accurate: men were more active only among 15–24-year-olds, not everyone “under 24,” and the chart gives percentages participating, not time spent exercising. The claim that the oldest group shows a “minor dip” is unclear, since both sexes’ figures fall from the preceding group, especially women’s. Cover the full age pattern more clearly and avoid unsupported interpretations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, so the reader can recognise a basic report structure. Some comparisons are also grouped by age, such as the figures for 45–54-year-olds. However, progression is uneven: the overview is followed by “There are sequential steps involve in this process,” which suggests a process rather than a chart and does not introduce the comparisons clearly. Connectors such as “Whereas” and “Moreover” are sometimes awkwardly attached, and the final paragraph moves from the 55–64 group to the oldest group without clearly explaining the overall trend. Organise the details in a consistent age sequence and use linking phrases to show direct comparisons rather than relying on isolated transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant terms, including “age group,” “highest,” “lowest” and “dip,” and the reader can generally identify the topic. However, vocabulary is limited and several word choices or collocations make the data difficult to interpret. “Spend a major time” and “gave time” incorrectly describe participation percentages as time spent, while “53% time is diverge” does not communicate the figure clearly. “Sequential steps” is also unsuitable for describing a bar chart. Spelling errors such as “activies,” “differance” and “excersice” further reduce accuracy. Build a small set of precise chart-reporting expressions, such as “the proportion who exercised” and “stood at,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including comparisons introduced by “Whereas” and “which,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in agreement and sentence construction: “females doing physical activities was highest” needs a clear subject and matching verb, and “There are sequential steps involve” combines incompatible verb forms. Other examples include “45 to 54 age women 53.3% time spend” and “female shows 53% time is diverge,” where missing articles and verbs make the relationships hard to follow. Punctuation and spacing are also unreliable, particularly around commas. Practise complete subject–verb sentences for each comparison, using patterns such as “The figure for women aged 45–54 was 53.3%, compared with 43.1% for men.”
