Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the chart’s subject and report a few figures, including 52.8% for men aged 15–24 and 47.1% for women aged 65 and over. However, the response only minimally summarises the data: it gives no clear overall account of the main pattern, such as women’s higher activity rates in most age groups and men’s higher rate among the youngest adults. Several details are inaccurate or confusing: women’s 15–24 figure is incorrectly described as being from “2020,” and the male figure for the oldest group is given as 46.1 rather than 46.7. The claim that this is the lowest male rate is also incorrect; the lowest is 39.5 among men aged 35–44. Select key comparisons and report them accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The response has a basic sequence, beginning with an introduction and then mentioning age groups and selected figures. However, the information is not arranged into a clear, coherent summary. The second paragraph repeats the task wording and lists all age groups without explaining how they compare, while the final paragraph introduces a few conclusions without connecting them to the earlier details. Linking words such as “Firstly,” “In addition,” and “But” are present, but they do not establish clear relationships between the ideas. Some references are difficult to follow, particularly “the graph age in 65 and over.” Organise the response into an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and a paragraph comparing the figures across age groups.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age groups,” “highest,” and “lowest,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several word choices or phrases make the meaning unclear. For example, “did regularly activities” is not a natural way to describe the data, and “the number of pmale and female percentage” is difficult to interpret. “Bar groups” is also an imprecise label for the chart. Use accurate, varied expressions such as “the proportion of men and women who exercised regularly,” “activity rate,” and “compared with.” Check spelling and word forms, including “male,” and avoid repeating “the percentage” in nearly every sentence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Most sentences rely on simple patterns, and frequent errors sometimes obscure the intended meaning. The opening sentence has a faulty verb phrase in “who didi regularly activities,” while “Firstly, the percentage …” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. The sequence “The age groups of male and female in 2010.15 to 24…” is also incomplete and incorrectly punctuated. Later, “The bar groups is clearly show” combines an incorrect subject–verb form with an unsuitable verb construction. There are also inconsistent references to time, as in “women in 2020,” despite the chart showing 2010. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent past-tense reporting, for example, “The chart shows that women’s rate was higher in most age groups.”
