Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s subject and provide an overview that captures two important patterns: women lead in most age groups, while men are highest among 15–24-year-olds, and the sexes are close among the oldest group. You also support these points with several accurate figures, including 52.8% versus 47.7% for the youngest group and women’s 52.5–53.3% across ages 35–64. However, coverage is partial: the claim that older men and women are “almost same” is not supported by the 65+ figures (46.7% and 47.1%), and the 25–34 results are omitted. The overview also says middle-aged women are most active without clearly identifying the peak at ages 45–54. More precise comparisons across all age groups would strengthen the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, an overview and a body paragraph, and the reader can follow the broad comparison between men and women. However, progression is uneven: the body moves from the youngest group to ages 35–64 and then to the oldest, while the 25–34 group is skipped. Linking phrases such as “Firstly” and “On the other hand” are used, but the latter is repeated and does not always signal a clear contrast. Some references are also vague, as in “same number of users” and “this age group.” Organise the figures in a consistent age sequence and use clearer links and references to make the comparisons easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “active,” “age group” and “participating,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural, such as “regular health activity,” “age batches,” “gents,” “ladies” and “same action.” Repetition of “active” and “health activities” also makes the description less precise. Prefer neutral, standard terms such as “regular physical activity,” “age groups,” “men” and “women,” and use comparison language such as “higher proportion” or “less active.” More accurate collocations would make the report clearer and more appropriate to an academic chart summary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. For example, “middle age females are the most in physical activities” lacks a clear grammatical construction, while “the middle age males doing less activity” is missing a finite verb. Other problems include “Ages between 15 to 24, it almost 52.8%” and “35 to 64 years old women often same number,” where sentence structure and verb forms are faulty. There are also issues with articles, plurals and punctuation, including the lower-case “whereas” after a full stop. Practise complete subject–verb sentences and use a few controlled comparative structures, such as “Women were more active than men in…”.
