Student answer (Band 6.0)
The bar chart illustrates the percentage of Australian men and women of different age doing physical activities in the year 2010
Overall it is clear that females aged 45 to 54 has done the most amount of physical activity and for the male it is from age 15 to 24 with 52.8 percentage which is the highest for male.
For the people who are aged 65 and over both male and female has almost the same number of percentage where the male has 46.7 and female has 47.1 with a difference of 0.4 percentage.Morever, it is the male who has the least number of physical activities with 39.5 percent and their age is from 35 to 44 however, for female the least number for physical activity is 47.1 and their age is 65 and over which is incredibly impressive compared to men.
For the men from 15 to 44 the percenatge has gradually decreased and and for the the men from 45 to 65 and over the number has signigicantly increased. on the other hand, for female it is completely opposite where the female from 15 to 54 the percentage has significantly increased however, females aged from 55 to 65 and over, the numbers have dramatically fallen

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several important features, including the male peak among 15–24-year-olds, the male low among 35–44-year-olds, and the close figures for people aged 65 and over. However, there is a key data error: women’s highest rate is 53.3% for ages 45–54, not 47.1%; 47.1% is their lowest rate, for the oldest group. The overview also focuses on the separate peaks rather than clearly summarising the main overall contrast: men lead only in the youngest group, while women have higher rates in every other age group. Your trend descriptions are relevant, but “significantly” and “dramatically” overstate changes that are relatively modest. More precise comparisons and a corrected overview would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing comparisons and trends. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement. You also use linking expressions such as “however” and “on the other hand” to signal contrasts. At times, though, connections are mechanical or unclear. The final paragraph’s repeated “for the men” and “for female” constructions make the trends harder to follow, while the long sentence beginning “For the men from 15 to 44” contains several ideas without clear punctuation. Organise the body around a clear comparison—first the male pattern, then the female pattern—and use shorter sentences and more precise references to age groups.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a suitable range of chart-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “difference,” “decreased,” and “increased,” and the main meaning is generally clear. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise: “the most amount of physical activity” is awkward for a percentage chart, and “least number of physical activities” does not describe the rate shown. “Significantly” and “dramatically” also exaggerate the changes, while “incredibly impressive” is evaluative rather than appropriate for a neutral report. Spelling errors such as “Morever,” “percenatge,” and “signigicantly” further limit accuracy. Choose neutral terms such as “highest proportion” and “fell,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “where” and “however,” and the intended comparisons can usually be understood. Some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries remain. For example, “females aged 45 to 54 has done” should use a plural verb and a suitable past-tense reporting form; “both male and female has” also has subject–verb disagreement. The opening phrase “of different age” needs a plural noun, and the final paragraph contains a run-on sentence with repeated conjunctions. Use consistent past-tense descriptions, check singular and plural subjects, and separate contrasting trends into complete sentences. These corrections would improve control while retaining your range of sentence forms.
