Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall pattern: women recorded higher activity rates in every age group except 15–24, and you describe the contrasting trends across age groups. These are relevant features and the figures you cite, including 53.3% for women aged 45–54 and 52.8% for men aged 15–24, match the chart. However, the overview is not fully precise: saying rates are “in between 40 to 60%” overlooks the male figure of 39.5%, which you then mention separately. The claim that women’s rate “gradually” increases also needs qualification because it rises to 53.3%, stays almost level at 53.0%, and then falls. A clearer overview and more precise reporting of these patterns would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the main comparisons and trends. The reader can follow the contrast between the sexes, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “on the other hand,” and “except” help connect ideas. However, the progression is sometimes weakened by unclear or awkward connections. For example, “Most highest percentage” begins a new point without a clear link to the preceding overview, while the final sentence combines several trends in a long structure that is difficult to follow. Some references, such as “which” in the second paragraph, are not immediately clear. Grouping the key comparisons more systematically and using shorter, clearly linked sentences would improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age group,” “gradually,” and “older age group,” so the main information is generally understandable. There is also an attempt to vary wording when describing increases and decreases. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “percentage of physical activity,” “Most highest percentage,” and “as compare to men.” These phrases make the description less precise and fluent. Spelling slips such as “nd” also reduce accuracy. Aim for standard chart language and check word forms and spelling; for example, describe the “proportion who exercised regularly” and say that one figure was “higher than” another.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a comparison with “except” and a contrast introduced by “on the other hand.” The main trends remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include “different age group” instead of a plural form, “is observe” instead of a correctly formed passive, and “In women age gradually percentage has increased,” where the sentence structure and word order are unclear. The final sentence also joins several clauses without clear punctuation, and “than” is used where “then” is needed. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and plurals, and divide longer comparisons into complete sentences.
