Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify the chart’s general subject and begin a relevant comparison, reporting 52.8% for males aged 15–24 and 47.7% for females in that group. However, the response stops before presenting a complete summary: the overview is left blank after “Overall,” and there is no account of the other age groups or the main pattern that women were more active in most groups, while young men led in the youngest group. The response is also 44 words, below the required 150, so the task is only minimally addressed. To improve, complete the overview and select several key comparisons from across the chart rather than leaving the description unfinished.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.0

The opening sentence establishes the topic, and “Overall” suggests an attempt to organise the response into an introduction and overview. However, the overview contains no information, and the next paragraph is an incomplete sentence ending with “had,” so the ideas do not develop into a coherent summary. There is no clear progression through the age groups and no meaningful comparison beyond the first group. Use separate, complete paragraphs for an introduction, an overview, and selected details; then connect comparisons with simple, accurate links such as “whereas” or “by contrast.”

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a few task-relevant terms, including “bar chart,” “percentage,” and “regular activity,” which show an attempt to describe the visual. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice make the description difficult to follow: “austrailan,” “physcial,” and “pep ole” (written as “pepole”) are examples, while “15 age people” is not a natural way to identify an age group. “Different peoples” is also unsuitable for describing men and women in chart categories. Build a small set of accurate chart phrases, such as “the proportion of men and women,” “those aged 15–24,” and “engaged in regular physical activity,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to form a longer sentence with “while,” and the opening uses a basic subject–verb structure. However, the sentence patterns are not controlled consistently. In “The bar chart gives information about australian different peoples did physcial activity,” the relationship between the chart and the activity is not grammatically expressed. The later clause, “around 47.7 had,” is incomplete and has no clear verb or object. The blank after “Overall” also leaves the intended sentence unfinished. Practise complete statements such as “The chart shows the percentages of Australian men and women who exercised regularly,” and ensure every clause has a clear subject and verb.
