Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the chart’s subject and give an overview that women recorded higher activity in most age groups, while the oldest group was nearly equal. However, the overview is not fully accurate: men had the higher figure among 15–24-year-olds (52.8% versus 47.7%), so women were not ahead in almost every group. The body gives no reliable figures and does not describe the main changes across the age groups; the claim that female activity increases from 15 to 65 also misses the slight decline after ages 45–54. The final sentence about men is unfinished. The response is 122 words, below the 150-word minimum, and 18 prompt words were excluded from that count. Add accurate comparisons and key figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction is followed by an overview and then comments about women and men. Linking phrases such as “Overall” and “According to what is shown” signal these stages. However, the progression is incomplete because the discussion does not develop into a clear comparison of the age groups, and the final sentence, “In terms of the percentage of male it's opposite,” leaves the reader without the promised information. Some connections are also unclear, particularly the shift from describing the chart to speculating about possible reasons. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs and organise the details by age pattern—for example, the male lead among the youngest group, the female lead in middle age, and the near-equal oldest figures.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age groups,” “regular physical activity,” and “Overall,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “females have a dominance percentage,” “a more percentage,” and “doing a regular excercise.” Spelling errors—including “equlity,” “obvias,” and “reserch”—also reduce clarity and control. Aim for precise, conventional language for describing data, such as “the proportion of women,” “a higher figure,” and “participated in regular exercise.” Avoid adding unsupported explanations about causes; focus vocabulary on trends, comparisons, and proportions shown in the chart.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer structures, including “Overall, it is clear from the graph that…” and a sentence beginning “According to what is shown.” However, the range remains limited, and errors in sentence construction and punctuation are frequent enough to make parts difficult to follow. For example, “The units are measured in age group in x axis” has an unclear grammatical structure, while “at 65 and over there is a percentage equlity among different sex” lacks accurate article and number patterns. The sentence about an increase “from age 15 to 65” is also awkwardly constructed, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise complete, controlled comparison sentences, with accurate articles, plurals, and punctuation.
