Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the chart’s subject and report several accurate figures, including the male peak of 52.8% among 15–24-year-olds and the female peak of 53.3% among 45–54-year-olds. You also make the useful general observation that women exceed men in most age groups. However, the overview is unclear and includes unsupported claims: “female on younger people to older people populer” does not accurately describe the pattern, and “child” is not a category shown. The chart shows men leading only in the youngest group, while women lead in the other five. The body reports many comparisons but does not clearly summarise the main trends, such as the male decline followed by a gradual rise. Focus the overview on these key patterns and ensure every comparison is precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an attempted overview, and two body paragraphs. The age groups are generally presented in chart order, which helps the reader follow the comparisons. However, progression is weakened by repetitive sentence patterns such as “the highest percentage … and the lowest,” repeated for nearly every group. Some linking is inaccurate or awkward: “While” begins a fragment, and “Furthermore” introduces an unclear point rather than developing the overview. The shift from the overview to “In terms of 2010” also does little to guide the reader. Grouping the age groups into meaningful trends and using clearer links between comparisons would make the organisation more coherent and less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age,” “stage,” and “regular physical activity,” so the topic is usually recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. For example, “female … populer” and “child on the populer in male” do not express a clear comparison, while “in the highest percentage” is an unnatural way to describe a peak. There are also repeated misspellings such as “teh,” “Futuhermore,” “reguler,” and “lowesat percantge.” Build a small set of accurate terms for describing chart data—such as “higher than,” “peaked at,” and “the lowest figure”—and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the reader can identify many of the figures despite the errors. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “Overall, it is also clear that female on younger people to older people…” lacks a complete, grammatical structure, while “While, child on the populer in male” is a fragment. Articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “female is perticulerly highest all of the stage” and the run-on comparison beginning “In 25 to 24…”. Practise forming complete subject–verb sentences, then join related comparisons with accurate clauses and punctuation.
