Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You report several accurate figures, including the male peak of 52.8% among 15–24-year-olds, the male low of 39.5% among 35–44-year-olds, and the female peak of 53.3% among 45–54-year-olds. However, the overview is unclear and contains a major trend error: activity did not increase steadily for both sexes. Male participation fell before rising, while female participation generally rose to middle age and then fell. The comparison that women exceeded men in most age groups is also missing. Some details are inaccurate or imprecise: female participation rose from 47.7% to 48.9%, rather than decreasing, and the final female figure was 47.1%. A clearer overview and more accurate comparisons would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate sections for men and women. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and phrases such as “Looking at” and “In terms of female” signal a change of focus. However, progression is weakened by unclear or mechanical linking, including “Although” and “Therefore” where the relationships between points are not logical. The overview’s “both men and men” also makes the comparison difficult to follow. Grouping the data around the main trends—men’s initial decline and recovery, and women’s rise and later fall—would create a more coherent account. Check punctuation around linking phrases and avoid unnecessary semicolons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, such as “percentage,” “highest,” “lowest,” “increased,” and “decreased,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the report awkward. For example, “men on physical activity” and “the percentage was increased” do not express the data naturally; “participation in physical activity” and “the figure rose” would be more idiomatic. “Constantly decreased” is also unsuitable for describing the female figures, which first rise and then fall. Spelling errors such as “steadly” and “Futhermore,” along with “mn,” reduce accuracy. Aim for precise trend verbs and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use past-tense forms to describe the 2010 data, but grammatical control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and verb forms sometimes make the meaning hard to follow, as in “both men and men physical activity increased” and “the age of 25 to 34 it was decreased and become 48.9%.” There are also problems with articles, prepositions, and punctuation, for example “on 2010,” “at the age of 15 to 24,” and the misplaced semicolons and commas. Most statements follow similar simple patterns, so the range is limited. Practise accurate comparative sentences, such as “The figure for women rose from … to …, whereas the male rate fell.”
