Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s subject and include figures for all six age groups, so the response is relevant and gives the reader a useful amount of data. You also note the broad contrast that women lead in most groups and that men’s lowest figure is among those aged 35–44. However, the overview contains important inaccuracies: men aged 15–24 have the highest male rate, but women peak at 45–54, not simply as a general comparison, and women’s lowest rate is 47.1% among those aged 65 and over. The claim that men aged 25–34 are “least active” is incorrect; their lowest rate is 39.5% at ages 35–44. Some comparisons, especially for ages 45–54, are not fully reported. A more precise overview and accurate ranking of highs and lows would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of details. This helps separate the main message from the figures. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is uneven. The first detail paragraph covers three age groups, while the final paragraph lists the remaining groups without clearly comparing men and women or explaining the pattern. Linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “In contrast,” and “In addition” are used, but some feel mechanical or do not establish a clear relationship between the figures. The sentence beginning “Remaining to the other points” also makes the transition difficult to follow. Group the age ranges logically and use comparisons to guide the reader through the data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentages,” “age groups,” “regular physical activity,” and “least active,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are unnatural or imprecise, such as “mostly active for exercise,” “minimum in exercise,” and “did regular exercise account with.” Repetition of “active” and “exercise” also makes the description less flexible. Some word choices obscure the intended comparison: “the age of 25 to 34 are least active” does not clearly distinguish the male figure from the female one. Aim for standard reporting phrases such as “the proportion who exercised regularly” and “the lowest participation rate,” while varying vocabulary without sacrificing accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be understood. However, errors in agreement, sentence construction, and verb forms are frequent enough to make several statements awkward or unclear. For example, “the age of 15 to 24 men are” has a faulty subject structure, while “women are mostly did regular exercise” combines incompatible verb forms. The fragment “43.1% and 53.3% for people with 45 to 54 ages” lacks a complete clause, and “men and women are least active … with 46.7% and 47.1%” does not clearly express the comparison. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense patterns when reporting percentages.
