Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the chart’s subject and make a relevant attempt to summarise gender and age differences. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: women were not highest only among the youngest and oldest groups; female activity peaked at ages 45–54 (53.3%) and remained around 53% at 35–64. The claim that 15-year-old men reached 55% also overstates the figure of 52.8%, while “44 years to 64 years” does not match the chart’s age bands. You include several approximate comparisons, but omit the key pattern that men led only in the youngest group and women led in all others. The response is also 18 words below the required 150, limiting the detail reported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview, and a paragraph of supporting details. Linking expressions such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “However” show an attempt to connect comparisons. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the overview’s claim about young and old females is followed by details that do not fully explain the overall pattern, and the final sentence repeats the idea that older women exceeded men. Some transitions do not express the relationship precisely, and the age groups are presented in a somewhat uneven order. Organise the body by a clear comparison—for example, describe the male trend first, then the female trend—and use references that make each comparison easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a range of task-related terms, including “regular exercise,” “physical activity,” “approximately,” and “category,” so the chart’s general subject is understandable. However, vocabulary is limited and several choices are unnatural or imprecise, which makes some comparisons harder to interpret. “Females … well performed” is not an appropriate collocation for describing a percentage, and “45% public of male category” is unclear. “Join the fitness community” suggests participation in a group rather than the proportion exercising regularly. Prefer precise chart language such as “the proportion of men who exercised” and “recorded/reached.” Avoid switching between “exercise,” “fitness,” and “physical activity” when the meaning is not quite the same.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “On the other hand” and a clause beginning “which was 53%.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but frequent grammatical errors and a narrow range of reliable structures affect clarity. Examples include “Overall, majority” (missing an article), “Females of aged 44 years to 64 years” (faulty construction), and “men … performed approximately 40 to 43 %” (the percentage needs a clearer grammatical link to the subject). Tense and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “females perform” alongside past-tense descriptions of 2010. Practise accurate comparative sentences and use consistent past tense when reporting this completed year.
