Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and include several relevant figures, including 52.8% for men and 47.7% for women aged 15–24. However, the response only partly summarises the main features: it does not clearly state the overall pattern that women were more active than men in every age group except 15–24, or that women’s rate peaked in middle age. Some comparisons are also inaccurate or unclear. For example, the 45–54 male figure is given as 45.1%, although it is 43.1%, and “The percentage of men 39.55 and women falling up 52.5%” does not clearly identify the 35–44 group or explain the trend. Focus on an accurate overview and select key comparisons rather than adding unsupported comments about exercise capability.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about the age groups. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and the age ranges are generally presented in sequence. However, progression is weakened by an unclear overview and by details that are difficult to connect. The sentence beginning “The percentage of men 39.55” lacks a clear subject and comparison, while “The ratio of 3 gruops are young” interrupts the data summary rather than developing it. Linking is also limited, with repeated use of “and” and abrupt transitions between figures. Group the data into clear comparisons—for example, younger adults and older groups—and use precise references to show which age group each figure describes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age group,” “physical activity,” and “ratio,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to follow. “Ratio” is repeatedly used where “percentage” or “proportion” is more suitable, and “women falling up” is not a natural way to describe an increase. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as “illiustrates,” “multipal,” “activety,” and “comarison,” which reduce clarity. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and check spelling carefully. Useful alternatives include “the proportion of men and women,” “rose to,” and “was higher than.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, but control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and errors often make relationships between figures unclear. For example, “Overall, there have different age groups” has an incomplete construction, while “the age group of 25 to 34 the male ratio going down” lacks a finite verb and a clear sentence structure. Agreement and verb forms are also problematic in “The ratio of 3 gruops are young.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention: the sentence starting “and the age group” begins with a lowercase conjunction after a full stop, and several figures run together without clear separation. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “Among 25–34-year-olds, the male figure fell to 42.2%, while the female figure rose to 48.9%.”
