Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You include figures for all six age groups and make relevant comparisons, including the key reversal in the youngest group: men are at 52.8% versus women at 47.7%, while women lead in the other groups. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: “woman had the highest percentage in every age” contradicts the youngest-group figures, and the trend that male activity falls and then rises is not clearly summarised. The body reports many values, but the main features are not selected or explained clearly enough, so the response only partially fulfils the summarising task. It is also three words below the required minimum of 150 words. A concise, accurate overview and a little more explanation of the overall patterns would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an attempted overview, and two body sections that move from younger to older age groups. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, progression is weakened by unclear links and awkward transitions, such as “while,” “than,” and “instance,” which do not reliably show the intended comparisons. The overview also conflicts with the first body paragraph, making the line of argument harder to follow. Grouping the data more deliberately—for example, first describing the youngest group and then the female lead across the remaining groups—would create clearer progression. Use linking expressions only where their relationship between ideas is accurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age,” “physical activities,” and “in comparison,” so the topic is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making comparisons difficult to interpret. Examples include “the most highest percent,” “old adult,” and “elder man”; “woman” is also used where the plural “women” is needed. Some phrases, such as “male had highest physical activities,” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Aim for precise terms such as “participation rate,” “men,” “women,” and “the highest proportion,” and check spelling and word forms. This would make the data description clearer and more appropriately academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with comparisons, but the range is limited and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “The bar chart illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “overall we can view that woman had…” lacks accurate sentence structure and tense control. Several comparisons run together without clear punctuation, as in “However, age of 25 to 34 male at 42.2%and female at 48.9%than…”. Missing articles and prepositions, inconsistent capitalisation, and absent spaces after punctuation also reduce accuracy. Practise building complete sentences around a clear subject and verb, then use commas and conjunctions to separate comparisons. More reliable control of these basic patterns would make your figures easier to understand.
