Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and give a broad overview that women were more active in most age groups. You also correctly report several figures, including 52.8% for men aged 15–24 and 53.3% and 53% for women aged 45–54 and 55–64. However, the overview is incomplete: men had the higher rate only among 15–24-year-olds, while women led in every other group, and the female rate peaked at 45–54 before declining. Some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: men aged 25–34 and 45–54 were not almost the same (42.2% versus 43.1%), and the account omits the key low point for men and the female peak. Select and compare the main trends more fully and precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of male and female figures. This gives the reader some organisation, and transitions such as “Additionally” and “In addition to this” signal relationships between points. However, progression within the body is not consistently clear. The male paragraph moves from the highest figure to a second category, then to two supposedly similar groups and the lowest, without a clear sequence or systematic comparison. The female paragraph is brief and does not connect its figures to the overall pattern. Some linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, and the final sentence ends without clear punctuation. Group the data by meaningful trends and use simpler, more precise links between comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “age groups,” “percentage,” and “participated in physical activity,” so the topic is generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “dominating” and “with regards,” but these are not used naturally in context. Several spelling errors—“comparision,” “maxmium,” “catgory,” and “descripation”—are noticeable, while expressions such as “after having the glimpse” and “least number of males” are imprecise for describing chart data. Repeated use of “doing physical activity” also limits variety. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language such as “the proportion who exercised,” “recorded the highest rate,” and “the lowest figure,” checking spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main message can usually be followed. However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, and sentence structure recur. For example, “women doing physical activity were dominating of most of age groups” has an incorrect construction and missing article, while “percentage of males … were maximum” mismatches the singular subject with the verb and uses an unsuitable structure. In “least number of males participated … were of 35 to 44 age group,” the sentence structure makes the comparison difficult to interpret. The final sentence also lacks a full stop. Build more reliable sentences with patterns such as “The percentage of men aged … was …” and “Women recorded a higher rate than men,” then check agreement and punctuation.
