Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main overall contrast: women recorded higher activity in most age groups, while men led among 15–24-year-olds. You also include relevant comparisons, such as the 5.1-point male lead in the youngest group and the small female lead among those aged 65 and over. However, the overview is imprecise: “except the first group in the all group of people” is difficult to interpret, and the response does not clearly highlight the key pattern that female activity peaked at 45–54 while male activity was lowest at 35–44. Some figures are also reported unclearly: the female range for ages 25–64 is given as 48.9% to 45.1%, omitting the higher values in between. Select and summarise the main trends more accurately and explicitly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to comparisons between age groups. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “However” and “Meanwhile” attempt to signal contrasts. Nevertheless, progression is not consistently clear. The second paragraph groups ages 25–64 but gives a confusing range rather than explaining the trend across those groups; “In centrest” then introduces the youngest group, making the sequence harder to follow. Some linking expressions are inaccurate or awkward, and “in this group” is repeated in the final sentences. Organise the body around clear comparisons—for example, the youngest group, the middle-age pattern, and the oldest group—and use precise references to connect each point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing the chart, including “proportion,” “age groups,” “regular physical activity,” “gap,” and “difference.” These choices show an attempt to use task-specific language. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural expressions are noticeable, including “poportion,” “exesise,” “tham,” “complately,” and “tather.” Phrases such as “more interested in physical activities” describe motivation rather than the measured participation rate, while “share almost the same proportion” is not a natural way to compare percentages. Aim for accurate, consistent terms such as “activity rate” and “percentage,” and check spelling and collocations carefully so that your comparisons are immediately clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “While” and a sentence beginning “Although” is not used; however, most structures remain simple, and several attempts at longer sentences are faulty. For example, “female are more active” has an agreement error, and “female activity percentage are” combines an incorrect plural verb with an awkward sentence structure. The opening sentence also has an unclear relative clause, while “In this group 0.4% female are more active in this group” repeats the phrase and lacks a clear grammatical comparison. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, plural forms, and complete comparative sentences before adding more complex clauses.
