Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is believed by some individuals that it is beneficial to spread as much information as possible among business and the academic world in terms of scientific research, while others argued that some information is much important or more valuable to be shared freely. Although it helps individuals to learn new things, I firmly believe that it It protects business secrets

On the one hand, it is irrefutable that sharing information freely helps individuals learn new things. When scientific research, busineess knowledge, and academic can easily access valuable information and enhance their understanding abilities. As a result, they can improve their cognitive skills, develop ideas, and also they save their time because it avoid repeating research. For instance, in the contemporary era, many students learn programming and artificial intelligence through free online cources and educational resources, which helps them to build pratical skills and they become well prepared for future competance. However, sensitive information such as business strategies should not be freely available because it could be misused or increase competition.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that some information is more valuable to be shared freely because it protects nusiness secrets. Companies invest a lof of money and time as well as put effort to develop new products and technologies. If this information is made publicaly available, competitiors can easily copy these ideas with less effort and money. As a result original company's profit reduce. For example, well-known company in mobile industries Appke keeps the features and designs of new iPhone models until their products not launch. Therefore, some valuable business information should remain secrate instead of shared freely.

To conclude, despite it assists people to learn new things, in my considered view, unequavocally information is too valuable to be shared freely and, more importantly, it protects companies secrets

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the benefits of sharing information are supported by examples like online learning, the second body paragraph is slightly repetitive and lacks depth regarding the 'academic world' mentioned in the prompt. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with more nuanced reasoning rather than just stating that information is valuable. The position is consistent, but the overall development could be more sophisticated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'For instance' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by grammatical errors, such as in the opening sentence. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately, which helps the reader follow the structure of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'cognitive skills', 'contemporary era', and 'competence'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'busineess', 'cources', 'pratical', 'competance', 'nusiness', 'publicaly', 'secrate', 'unequavocally') and some awkward collocations (e.g., 'original company's profit reduce'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. Expanding the range of vocabulary and ensuring accuracy in spelling would significantly improve the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While there are some successful complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'it It protects', 'academic can easily access', 'until their products not launch', and 'despite it assists'. Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure in the introduction is clunky. The errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent the meaning from being understood. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of subordinating conjunctions.
