Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by acknowledging both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is significantly lacking. Many sentences are repetitive or vague, such as 'The rearmost coherent factor to be considered which cannot be neglacted is share every thing is good.' The essay fails to provide concrete examples or logical explanations to support the claims made. The position is stated in the introduction but remains unclear throughout the body paragraphs due to a lack of coherent argumentation. The response struggles to move beyond general statements, resulting in an under-developed discussion that does not fully explore the complexities of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure of these paragraphs is weak. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence with', 'However'), they are often used incorrectly or in a way that does not improve the flow of ideas. The progression of the argument is difficult to follow because the sentences often lack logical connection to one another. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the overall organization feels mechanical rather than purposeful. The introduction and conclusion are particularly disjointed, making it challenging for the reader to identify a clear, logical path of reasoning.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often used inaccurately. There are several instances of non-standard word choices or malapropisms, such as 'I quibble from them' (likely meaning 'differ' or 'disagree') and 'propound' used in an unnatural context. Phrases like 'concurrent world' and 'rearmost coherent factor' suggest an attempt to use sophisticated language, but the lack of precision hinders clarity. Spelling errors are also present, such as 'substainable' and 'neglacted'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly, and the frequent misuse of words occasionally causes confusion for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'There are adequate evidence', 'scientific research... has certainly undeniably demerits'), sentence structure, and punctuation. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, making them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex sentence structures, these are almost always faulty, leading to a lack of clarity. The control of grammar is weak, and the high frequency of errors throughout the text significantly impacts the readability of the essay.
