Student answer (Band 7.0)

In present times, a lot of advanced information is available on multiple open source platforms. However, people's opinion's differ in sharing all the information freely. Many people believe it's in the best interest of the people but some people disagree to this belief and have an opposite opinion to this. Moreover, In my opinion sharing information related to advance research's, businesses and information related to the academic's is very much needed and is definitely in the favour of the people. Though, there should be some caution practiced while sharing these information.

Primarily, the youth, the future scientists, entrepreneur's and professors need to have all the information related to current times. For example, the students and upcoming scientists need to have the knowledge of the previous, current and upcoming research advances in multiple areas, the upcoming ambitious entrepreneurs' are required to know the current trends and new business ideas that are under trial and those which are ready for real world implementation and lastly, the teachers, the professors and the students inevitably needs the latest information and latest research papers on education system and the present time students approach and mindset towards education.

However, these information need an appropriate and reliable means to reach the targeted people. If some of these sensitive information come in the hands of the evil group of people it can be disastrous. They can misuse this information and create propaganda against the people. It can also create a security threat if any technological information and national information is leaked. Furthermore, the second most important caution is that the information reaches the correct audience. For instance, if any technological advances information reaches to a non technical group it can create a chaos if misunderstood. There is a threat that people can use these open platforms to spread misinformation if the platforms are not regulated correctly.

In my opinion, there is a dire need to share latest data and information to the capable youth. Yet, i firmly believe that the knowledge should be passed through an appropriate channel. For instance, there should be a proper curriculum for students to gain this knowledge and implement it further in their area of interest and professions. There should be proper portals for degree holders and verified people to access all the necessary data. To conclude, if proper steps are taken and the information is channelized in a suitable manner it can create a long lasting impact on the future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the benefits of open information and the risks associated with unrestricted access. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the need for students to access research and the potential for misuse by malicious groups. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more deeply developed; for instance, you could provide a more specific real-world example of a scientific or business breakthrough that was accelerated by open access to better illustrate your point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and you use cohesive devices like 'Primarily,' 'However,' and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. While the structure is sound, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing; for example, 'these information' is used incorrectly, as 'information' is an uncountable noun. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring precise pronoun usage would enhance the flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'propaganda,' 'implementation,' and 'misinformation.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and incorrect pluralization, such as 'research's,' 'academic's,' and 'entrepreneur's.' These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on the correct usage of uncountable nouns and avoid unnecessary apostrophes for plurals. Expanding your range to include more precise collocations would help you move into the higher band categories.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are consistent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and noun usage, such as 'these information need' instead of 'this information needs.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and capitalization errors (e.g., 'Moreover, In my'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, they occur frequently. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence-level mechanics will significantly improve your score.
