Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 171 words. This significantly impacts the development of the ideas. While the essay attempts to address both sides of the argument, the discussion is superficial and lacks the depth required for a higher band. The position is stated, but the supporting arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific, relevant examples. To improve, you must expand on your points with detailed explanations and concrete illustrations to fully explore the complexities of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'For instant' instead of 'For instance'. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed due to the brevity of the paragraphs. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'Moreover' and 'Consequently', the overall flow is hindered by the limited development of the arguments. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'numerous peoples states' (should be 'people state') and 'productivity for all ages' (which does not fit the context). The range of vocabulary is basic, and there is little evidence of less common or academic collocations. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to research and business, and pay closer attention to word forms and pluralisation to avoid basic errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'some information are' (should be 'is') and 'two group of people' (should be 'groups'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of complex sentence structures and the frequency of basic errors limit the score. You should practice using a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as relative clauses and conditional sentences, while focusing on accuracy.
