Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas are relevant, the arguments are somewhat simplistic and lack the necessary elaboration to reach a higher band. For instance, the example regarding Apple is a bit vague and could have been expanded to better illustrate the tension between innovation and intellectual property. Because the response is under-length, it fails to fully develop the points, resulting in a lower score for task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Shifting towards', and 'In an conclude'. However, some of these are used incorrectly or sound unnatural, such as 'In an conclude' instead of 'In conclusion'. The progression of ideas is logical, but the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'scientif', 'buisness', 'acadmic', and 'signifant', which occur frequently. The student uses basic vocabulary and struggles with collocations, such as 'economy development' instead of 'economic development' and 'share the manufacture idea' instead of 'share manufacturing secrets'. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary and proofreading for common spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'if veryone can share their ideas or knowledge freely than it is easy', where the conditional structure is misused, and 'i believed that by sharing our personal idea give positive effects', which contains subject-verb agreement issues. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters at the start of sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors prevents a higher score.
