Student answer (Band 6.5)

Number of people believe that is beneficial to share knowledge and information as possible in scientific research, commercial, and academic. While others argue that certain information is precious or crucial to shared freely among the world, I believe that it is fundamental to share knowledge in certain circumstances.

On the one hand, it is widely believed that particular fact in science and business are too valuable to share with others. That is because some information could be precious that it could support your country economic. For example, if a country's domestic health researchers found cure for a disease that was once considered incurable, and if they wanted to sell the research on the cure, they could make a great money. As a result, the nation would become more financially and economically stable than it was in the past.

On the other hand, I believe that, share knowledge freely is more beneficial. it should be shared widely because people should be provided with information that could improve their quality life. For instance, if scientists found way to fully remove impurities from any source of water and make drinkable again. people should be informed, and this information should be easily accessible. This would lead to an improvement in people's lives.

In conclusion, some people think that certain knowledge in scientific research and the academic world is too precious to be shared freely, while others opposite to this idea and argue that all information should be shared with public. I personally agree with the idea that information should distributed widely.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion, meeting the requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument regarding economic benefits is clear, but the explanation of why information should be shared is a bit repetitive and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments with more nuanced reasoning. The conclusion is a bit brief and merely restates the prompt rather than synthesizing the main points effectively. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of analysis could be improved.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in perspective. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes interrupted by grammatical errors, such as the sentence fragment 'it should be shared widely because people should be provided with information that could improve their quality life.' Additionally, some transitions are mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences connect more smoothly would enhance the overall coherence of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'beneficial,' 'incurable,' and 'accessible.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'make a great money' instead of 'make a great deal of money' or 'make drinkable again' instead of 'make it drinkable again.' These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word forms are accurate in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Number of people believe' instead of 'A number of people believe'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('share knowledge' instead of 'sharing knowledge'). Some sentences are also fragmented or punctuated incorrectly, such as 'For instance, if scientists found way to fully remove impurities... people should be informed.' While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 5.5–6.0 range.
