Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 7.0)
In the growing curiosity of modern society some people may perceive that abundant knowledge can be proven harmful regarding researches , businesses and academic aspects as well while, some may argue that it is a basic human right to get information completely. In my opinion, sharing information may have limited disadvantages, but it can be proven conducive when shared coherently with proper limitations and precautions for the users of the information.
Critics may argue that Sharing each and every part of the scientific research or other empirical works may invite evils of the society to turn the information into something unprecedented and harmful for the people. Moreover, sensitive information regarding businesses and trades can also foster robberies, scams and other frauds. For instance, atomic weapons are formulated by several countries nowadays which were not supposed to be created by scientists. But the information profoundly assisted countries to create such weapons.
Despite this, people also believe that they have the right to access the knowledge about everything happening around them. Certainly, information regarding positive aspects such as academics should be coherent in the making of erudite scholars. Furthermore nebulous knowledge about certain things or works can be proven harmful both for the user of the information and the society.
Taking everything into account, sharing information solely depends upon the contents of sharing. Providers of the information should make proper laws and orders regarding the utilisation of the information and resources. I am convinced that sharing coherent and clear information regarding beneficial aspects can have positive impacts for the welfare of the society both socially and economically but the authorities should scrutinize the information and be conscientious about the sharing it freely.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of atomic weapons as a risk of open scientific data and the benefits of academic transparency. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; the explanation of why information should be restricted is a bit brief, and the connection between 'nebulous knowledge' and harm is not fully explored. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed examples or deeper analysis of the implications of information sharing in a business context, rather than just listing potential risks.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Despite this', and 'Taking everything into account' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the benefits of academic information and the risks of 'nebulous knowledge' in the third paragraph is a bit abrupt. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the central ideas are easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, including terms like 'erudite', 'nebulous', 'conducive', and 'conscientious'. These choices show an attempt to use more sophisticated language. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'invite evils of the society' (which sounds unnatural) and 'sharing each and every part' (which is slightly informal). Additionally, 'researches' is used as a countable noun, whereas 'research' is uncountable. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score for lexical range and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, pluralization, and preposition usage (e.g., 'in the growing curiosity', 'regarding researches', 'sharing it freely'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'sharing information solely depends upon the contents of sharing'. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the response. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of uncountable nouns, as well as refining your sentence structure to ensure better flow and accuracy.
