IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Write about the following topic: Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people think sharing information is good but other people think it should not share. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Nowadays many people think information should share with everyone. Other people think information is very important and not good to share. I will discuss both side and give my opinion.
On one side, sharing information is good because people can learn many things. If scientist share research, other scientist can make more invention. Student also get knowledge from internet and books. Business people can know new idea and make better company. For example, when doctor share medicine information many sick people become good. So sharing information is very useful.
On the other side, some information is too important to share. Company spend lot of money for making new product. If they share everything, other company can copy it and they lose money. Also some science information is dangerous. Bad people can use it for making weapons or doing crime. So it is not safe to tell everyone.
In my opinion, I think some information should share but not all. Good information for education and science is okay to share. But secret business and dangerous information should keep private. This is better for people and country.
In conclusion, sharing information have many advantage but also some disadvantage. I think people should share useful information but important and secret information should not free for everyone.

There is little evidence of less common lexical items or collocations appropriate for an academic essay. While the meaning is generally clear, the range is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. Phrases like 'make more invention' and 'become good' are unnatural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'scientist share', 'sharing information have'), article usage, and verb forms (e.g., 'should not share' instead of 'should not be shared').
