Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 113 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. The introduction attempts to paraphrase the prompt but contains grammatical errors, and the body paragraph is cut off mid-sentence after providing only a brief, undeveloped point. Because the essay is incomplete and fails to discuss both views or provide a personal opinion as required by the prompt, it does not meet the criteria for a higher band. To improve, you must ensure you fully develop your arguments with supporting examples and reach the minimum word count.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay shows a basic attempt at paragraphing, but the lack of development makes it difficult to assess the logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the abrupt ending prevents the establishment of a coherent structure. While the sentences are simple, they are generally understandable. To improve, you should focus on using linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to connect your ideas and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details and a concluding thought.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'good' and 'information'. There are also several spelling errors, including 'peopel' (people) and 'valuabale' (valuable). The range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas effectively. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary and synonyms to avoid repetition. For instance, instead of repeating 'good', you could use 'beneficial', 'advantageous', or 'constructive'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors, such as 'the topic of some peopel believe' (which is a fragment) and 'it help develop' (subject-verb agreement error). The sentence structures are simple and lack the variety required for higher bands. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the use of complex sentences using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions. Proofreading your work for basic errors like spelling and verb forms will also help increase your score.
